Surge has developed the S32 with separate powertrains and battery packs for its two vehicle forms. The company's published information describes an 11 kWh battery and 10 kW motor for the three-wheeler, while the scooter uses a smaller battery and motor.

That arrangement is important because the vehicle is not simply a scooter pulling an extra section behind it. The two modes are designed as distinct vehicle configurations.

For a working user, the appeal is straightforward: use the larger configuration when carrying people or goods, and the smaller one when manoeuvrability matters more.

More than an EV story

India's electric three-wheeler market is already moving beyond the idea of replacing a petrol or diesel vehicle. Major manufacturers are offering electric models for passenger transport and cargo operations, with different products aimed at different working requirements.

The S32 brings another possibility into that conversation: adaptability.

It does not necessarily make sense for everyone. A person who only needs a passenger auto or only moves heavy cargo may prefer a conventional dedicated vehicle. But for someone whose working day changes from one task to another, the concept becomes easier to understand.

That is perhaps the most interesting thing about the Surge S32.

Its biggest idea is not simply that it is electric. It is that mobility does not always have to be fixed.
