Apple has once again revised its subscription pricing in India, making several of its popular services costlier for both new and existing users. Apple has increased the prices of Apple Music and Apple One subscription plans in India, extending its latest round of price hikes from hardware to services, with subscribers now having to pay more for Apple Music's Individual, Family and Student plans, as well as its Apple One tiers. The revised rates are already active across the platform, meaning anyone signing up fresh will see the new pricing immediately, while current subscribers will notice the change reflected in their upcoming billing cycle.
According to the updated pricing structure, the Apple Music Individual plan now costs Rs. 139 per month instead of Rs. 119. The Student plan has gone up from Rs. 59 to Rs. 69 per month, while the Family plan now costs Rs. 229 instead of Rs. 179, and it continues to allow up to six family members to use separate accounts with their own songs, playlists, and music suggestions. Depending on the tier, Apple Music plans have become costlier by anywhere between Rs. 10 to Rs. 50 per month, marking one of the more significant service price adjustments the company has made in India in recent years.
This isn't the first time Apple has revised its music subscription pricing in the country. The latest revision comes less than two years after Apple increased the price of its Individual Apple Music subscription in India from ₹99 to ₹119 per month, a change first reported in November 2024. With this new hike, Apple Music, which now starts at ₹139 per month in 2026, has moved further away from the more affordable positioning it once held in the Indian market. In fact, Apple has increased the prices of all subscription tiers, bringing its base plan roughly in line with rival Spotify's pricing in the country.
Interestingly, the timing of this move isn't isolated. The revision comes just days after Apple raised prices on select Macs, iPads and Apple TV devices in India, suggesting a broader pattern of cost adjustments across the company's hardware and services lineup in the region this year. Notably, Apple has not issued any public announcement about the price hike through its official channels, with the changes instead being spotted quietly on the platform and confirmed to media outlets afterward.
When asked about the reasoning behind the hike, Apple reportedly told 9To5Mac that the increase in Apple Music pricing was linked to rising licensing fees. This aligns with a broader industry-wide trend, as music licensing costs the fees paid to record labels, artists, and publishing rights holders for streaming have been climbing globally, pushing multiple platforms to adjust their pricing structures. Notably, Apple isn't alone in this trend, as competing platforms have made similar moves recently in the Indian market.
For subscribers looking at the bigger picture, the financial impact adds up over time. A Family plan subscriber will now end up paying roughly Rs. 600 more annually, while an Individual plan user faces an increase of around Rs. 240 over the course of a year. While these numbers might appear modest on a month-to-month basis, they represent a real shift in the cost of staying subscribed to Apple's ecosystem of services long-term.
For users who rely on multiple Apple services, there may still be a silver lining. Some reports suggest that Apple's bundled Apple One plans may offer better relative value now, since select individual bundle tiers have reportedly not seen proportional increases compared to standalone Apple Music pricing potentially making the bundle an appealing alternative for users looking to combine music, cloud storage, TV, and gaming services under one subscription rather than paying for each separately.
As global streaming costs continue to rise and licensing negotiations grow more expensive, further price revisions across markets, including India, may not be entirely off the table. For now, Indian users will need to budget for slightly higher monthly costs across Apple Music and select Apple One tiers, with the new pricing already reflected for anyone checking or renewing their subscriptions on Apple's platforms.
