Giribala Singh Demanded Rs 2 Lakh At Vidai: CBI FIR In Twisha Sharma Death Case

The shocking death of model and actor Twisha Sharma has taken a dramatic turn after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a fresh FIR that includes serious allegations of dowry harassment and financial demands against her husband and in-laws. One of the most disturbing claims mentioned in the FIR is that Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh during the “vidai” ceremony at the time of marriage.

According to reports, the FIR filed by the CBI states that the money was allegedly paid by Twisha’s family under pressure during the wedding rituals in December 2025. The agency has now started investigating the case under multiple sections related to dowry death, harassment, criminal conspiracy, and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Twisha Sharma, who was reportedly 32 or 33 years old, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal earlier this month. Initially, the case was treated as a suicide, but the incident soon sparked national outrage after Twisha’s family accused her husband, Samarth Singh, and his mother Giribala Singh of mentally and physically harassing her for dowry.

The case became even more controversial because Giribala Singh is a former district judge, while Samarth Singh is a practicing lawyer. Twisha’s family alleged that the accused were using their influence to manipulate the investigation and delay justice. These concerns eventually reached the Supreme Court, which took suo motu cognisance of the matter after growing public pressure and media attention.

Following the Supreme Court’s intervention, the Madhya Pradesh government recommended a CBI probe. The central agency officially took over the investigation and re-registered the FIR in Bhopal.

The FIR reportedly states that Twisha was subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment after marriage. Her family claimed that she was repeatedly pressured for money and faced emotional abuse inside her marital home. The allegations further suggest that the harassment intensified over time, ultimately leading to the tragic circumstances surrounding her death.

The postmortem findings added another layer of suspicion to the case. Reports revealed that while the initial autopsy confirmed “antemortem hanging,” injury marks were also found on Twisha’s body. According to media reports, these injuries may have been caused by assault or impact from a heavy object. Twisha’s family questioned the findings and demanded a second postmortem examination.

Responding to these concerns, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second autopsy to be conducted by doctors from AIIMS Delhi. The move was seen as a major development because the family had accused local authorities of procedural lapses and possible bias during the first investigation.

Several other details emerging from the investigation have raised further questions. Reports claim that multiple phone calls were allegedly made by Giribala Singh to influential individuals and CCTV technicians shortly after Twisha’s death. Twisha’s family argued that this raised suspicions about possible tampering with evidence.

At the same time, the Singh family has denied all allegations. They have claimed that Twisha was emotionally distressed and rejected accusations of dowry harassment. In some statements reported by media outlets, the family also alleged that Twisha struggled with personal issues, including addiction-related problems.

Meanwhile, Samarth Singh, who was reportedly absconding for several days after the incident, was later arrested after surrendering before the court. His disappearance had already intensified public anger and suspicion surrounding the case.

The Twisha Sharma case has now become one of the most talked-about investigations in the country, highlighting ongoing concerns about dowry harassment, institutional influence, and the challenges faced by victims’ families in seeking justice. With the CBI now handling the probe, attention remains focused on whether the investigation will uncover the complete truth behind Twisha’s tragic death.
